Practitioner Spotlight: Victoria Silks and Aura-Soma

by Sarah Daher

On a beautiful, golden day last autumn, I visited local practitioner Victoria Silks to learn more about the system of Aura-Soma. With my experience with customers at Crazy Wisdom, there seems to be much confusion and misinformation about Aura-Soma, and I knew very little about it myself, so the topic seemed appropriate to discover. Victoria is the only practitioner I know in the area, and only one of ten in the entire country with her level of training! What better person with whom to schedule an appointment?

When I arrived, she was sitting in the sun on her back porch, surrounded by mature trees and many water features. She gave me a tour of her yard, which includes a half-size reproduction of the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth, covered in the softest moss, as well as a flow form fountain. At this point, she explained she was a former art teacher at the Rudolf Steiner High School, and her husband was the former school Eurythmist, relocated here from Eugene, Oregon to help begin the school several years ago. Our connection from this point was very warm and friendly, and I felt entirely comfortable with her as she led me to her lower floor studio and office space. Also a silk artist, Victoria’s studio is infused with color from her wall of inspirational images to the colored glass set high in the windows. Upon entering, rows of brilliant Aura-Soma bottles greeted me, quiet and luminous. We sat together and Victoria began to explain Aura-Soma, its history and its practice.

Aura-Soma is considered a color care system, produced exclusively by the Art and Science International Academy of Color Technologies (ASIACT) in England, that is non-intrusive and self-selective. It’s deeply therapeutic also, but practitioners shy away from calling it “therapy” as the system enables you to do the work yourself. The practitioner does not perform bodywork or manipulation of any kind. Developed in England in 1983 by healer Vicky Wall, Aura-Soma involves the application of amazing bottles of colored water and pure lotus oil. These infusions contain the essences of plant extracts, essential oils, and the energies and extracts of precious and semiprecious stones, color, and light. The energetic properties of the liquids interact with your aura to help gain equilibrium in the body, mind, and spirit. Remarkably, Vicky Wall had lost her physical sight by the time she created Aura-Soma, but she held deeply amplified clairvoyant abilities and was also trained as an apothecarist and surgical chiropodist. Her father educated Vicky during her childhood about the spiritual aspects and energies of living plants and flowers, as well as in the mystical traditions of the Kabbalah. She developed Aura-Soma at the age of 65, not fully knowing why or what the infusions could do; but it quickly became clear that the essences contained in the bottles were a language of the soul, a reflection of what’s deep within, helping to strengthen perception and awareness of the self. Much like homeopathic preparations, the infusions are completely harmless and act gently to achieve often powerfully healing results.

After our introduction, Victoria brought out a sample of tiny vials in a rainbow of color. She asked me to pick one, whichever color felt right to me. I chose pink. She then asked me to stand facing her and placed three drops of the liquid on my left palm, and three drops on hers. She led me through a brief chakra exercise and meditation, then asked me to smell my hands. It was a pale rose scent, which set the tone for the upcoming session. She then faced me to the rows of over 100 Aura-Soma bottles, known as Equilibrium bottles, and asked me to choose four, one at a time, without comparing or asking why. It’s important to choose these bottles yourself, based upon your intuition and self-knowing. She left to make hot herbal tea while I began.
It did not take me long to choose, although my color choices surprised me. In her experience, Victoria has never seen two people choose the same four bottles. Each session is entirely unique in that aspect. She returned with our tea and we began discussing the significance of my selections. Although this healing system is self-selected, Victoria has a great deal to offer about the bottles and colors within the bottles, the order in which they are chosen, the names of each of the infusions, and the possible meanings on many levels: physical, emotional, etheric, and astral. She was much like my guide through the colors and how my being and spirit were communicating. She offered great insight, remarkable thought, actually, into my potential soul mission, my gifts and challenges, the current state of my being, as well as my aspirations on a soul level. We communicated well and easily with one another, and it was revealing, affirming, and strengthening also. We closed with a final exercise, helpful prior to meditation and prayer.

This work is Victoria’s gift, I’m quite certain. Gentle, enthusiastic, and deeply inspired, she says this work is her absolute passion and desires to be of service by awakening through color, through creativity. She believes Aura-Soma is a language people can effortlessly relate to as it’s familiar on a soul level. After sessions, things begin to move and change in your life, often through dreams, inspiration or action in any realm. An advanced practitioner and advanced teacher certified by ASIACT, she has provided over 200 consultations and teaches many courses on this system. The study can become quite intense, including courses on subtle anatomy, tarot, Kabbalah, and the Tree of Life. Developed to enable you to deeply discover yourself, Aura-Soma is a tool to help you uncover why you are here and what it is you are intended to do, with harmony, balance, and protection through positive intent, prayer, and meditation. With consistent use and practice, the beautiful bottles of infusions and information Victoria provides help guide you and support you on your path, honoring your inner wisdom and opening doors to consciousness.

A beginning session with Victoria costs $125, and includes one Equilibrium bottle, notes on your session, and a folder of helpful information. For continued exploration, a second session is recommended 2-3 months after the first. She also offers two-day Color Journey Courses, courses for bodyworkers, as well as more intensive levels of study. Although price is fairly consistently a determining factor for me, I would recommend Victoria’s work without hesitation. I feel that her cost is more than worth the two hours we spent together. I left her studio feeling refreshed, energized, and supported by the Universe. I am so thankful for my experience with Victoria, and hope to continue our work together.
